Well it does not seem like a year ago when I was writing my first post here for January 1st 2010. But it is and I now write my last one. I have also noticed that this is my 100th post so I have lot to look back on during 2010. I also had my last game as Captain today and this my first in December, and Rob Croxford and I were well beaten by Brian and Jeff in the winter Foursomes today.
Well I have really enjoyed my year as Captain. It has been busy and I have played some fun golf with so many members so thanks to everyone who put up with me on the Golf course this year. Also everyone has been very supportive and made my "job" very easy. I am pleased that the golf side of the club seems to have continued to improve this year and all sections of the club appear to be getting stronger. Also thanks for all the support for the charity, I do not have the final figure yet but we raised well over £7,500 this year.
There were so many highlights of the year it is hard to pick out too many moments but here are some of my favourites below.
Captains Drive In - My first real event of the year and it went very smoothly on a crisp frosty day in March. And I even took £10.00 of Andy as I called my Drive at the trees on the left with a draw into the middle of fairway :-)
Mail On Sunday - We made it to the 4th round this year but I managed to get to play in my first play-off and won (that was a knee knocking experience)
PAV Scratch Team - I was lucky enough to involved in the team this year and earned my first 1/2 point against Selsey. And playing against West Sussex in the first round was great experience as out combined handicap for 8 players was 50 and West Sussex were 3. Please support the team next year.
Club Championships - We played this on July and it worked well on a couple of nice days. And after 23 holes I was told I was in the lead at 6 over, but went on to drop 13 shots on the last 13 holes and I think it was the Championship that nobody wanted to win.
Captains Day - A fantastic day in the Sunshine where we raised £2,800 for Charity.
Staff v Members - 36 holes and the members won and another £20.00 for charity from Andy
Men's Dinner - I can't remember too much so it must of been good. And yes I will be taking Tammy out in the New Year but after the Blog is finished so I will not be writing about it (unless it is for a lot of money - "Kiss And Tell" )
There was of course so many other great occasions but these are just some of the highlights. My Handicap did get to 7 but back to 8, will be down lower by the end of next year.
So I suppose it is just left for me to say a Big Thanks to all of you for having me as your Captain for 2010 and wish Richard Kindon the best of luck for 2011 and I hope he has as much fun as I did.
Happy New Year.
