OK Mens Dinner Report

So Saturday was the Men's dinner. I have spent a little while trying to best fit everything in for the night as there is a lot that goes on. I think we did it in the end and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I apparently did. To those I need to apologise to SORRY. Now that out the way lets move on.

So we started with the AGM at 6:30. Again we did not have as many as I hoped for turning up but there was about 20 people. I would like to see more next year so we can get some more ideas into the committee. 2 people are leaving the committee this year, Steve Rimmer and Terry Wills, and I would like to thank them for all the work they have done over the years. These places have now been taken by Paul Mchale who is Vice-Captain for 2011 and Peter Beck who is now a member of the committee. Brian Johnstone is now the Secretary and Richard Kindon was confirmed as Club Captain for 2011. Good luck to them all. I am still surprised that more people do not want to get involved in the committee and help out but again this year we had no other people wanting to be on the committee and only 20 at the AGM. We can only assume we do all the right things for the members at the moment.
On to the Dinner. We had a fantastic meal that was split up by a couple of games of Heads and Tails, the draw for the dinner cup and the giving of prizes to the winners from last year. We managed to fit this all in but it must have been well after 10:00 before the Comedian, Mark Rough got to do his slot. I had never seen Mark before but did a lot of research trying to find someone who would fit the bill for the night and I think he did a great job. Sorry to those he picked on for the night, but we all got some, even me as a little Dwarf apparently. This was then rounded off with the Charity Auction. John Jordan had managed to get me a signed Brighton shirt and a signed Chelsea shirt which went very well. We had some Jack Nicolas memorial Scottish £5.00 notes. And Tammy offered a night out with herself for dinner, and I agreed to pay the bill for the food and wine. This all went very well and we had a lot of bids for Tammy, that was until it slowed down a little at £525.00. I thought I would get the bidding going again by bidding £550.00 but that was when all the bidding stopped. But I am sure we will have good night out. I have not done the final count yet but I think we raised nearly £1400.00 on the night.
I for one felt very rough Sunday morning, I would like to thank all the bar staff and chefs that made this a wonderful evening and sorry if I kept them a little late when they tried to get me to leave. My memory is a little blurred from about 11:30 but I know it was a lot latter than that when I eventually made it back to Random Hall.

Sunday morning was the Dinner Cup. I made it back after about 5 hours sleep and went into the Steam Room for about 30 minutes to try and sweat it out. But it did not do too much good. I played with Alan Giddings in the Greensomes and we managed a respectable 33 points, but it was very cold and it rained light drizzle all day. The winners were the favorites from the previous night, Richard Clegg and Tim Plumtree with 38 Points.

Oh well thats that for another year, bring on next years Dinner. And if you did enjoy this years please click like to this post.
