Spooky goings on at Slinfold.

Saturday and it was our Mixed Halloween competition. I dressed up in a full mask but it was like nobody noticed as when I walked in Ryan just said “Hi Clive” as did a few others. Of course when I took it off then they all ran away. This comp is always a fun comp with extra points being added for Fancy Dress and for Pumpkins. Well some of the costumes this year were fantastic and I think a particular mention goes to Beckie, Matt and Richard. As usual the girls in F&B chose the winners of the costumes and pumpkins and the prize for costume went to Beckie, as she wore it all the way round the course, and to Matt for his Pumpkin, which maybe Beckie may have made too.

I had the pleasure of playing with Rosie and we had a great fun round but we did not quite play well enough to get in the prizes ending up fifth. The weather was a little off and on with some rain for us at the start of the first and the start of the second 9. What was strange was when we got in the other were complaining of Hail Stones, and in particular one group who were on the 13th Green said these were lying on the green effecting the putts. We worked out that at the same time we were on the 11th Green but we only had heavy rain, so from the 13th to the 11th we had different weather. SPOOKY.

On Sunday it was a Stableford competition and I was starting this one. Well the weather was not good and it rained all morning, but I did keep telling everyone it would stop as soon as we got on the course at 11:20, well as it happened just as we hit our first shots the rain stopped and it was dry all the way round for us. SPOOKY, but that just goes to show, don’t always ask for an early tee time, later might be better some times. I had a very steady front 9 with just 3 bogeys but a 7 on the 10th from the middle of the fairway put a DAMPER on me getting down to 7 again by the end of the year so I think I will have to settle for 8 and concentrate on improving next year. Congratulations to Davie Robertson who scored a magnificent 44 points in difficult conditions and is now playing off 14.

DON’T FORGET THE MENS DINNER
