Wednesday, another Captain-Pro Challenge....

And Matchplay is still tough.

On Wednesday Ryan and I took on Chris Neate and Richard Paley in the next challenge. On this occasion the shots Ryan had to give were 16 and 14 and I recieved 5. The boys agreed to have the optional £50.00 bet as well as the normal £50.00 so my money at risk too. So off went and the first three holes were good halved with Net pars. The boys then won 4 and 5 with net birdies but we won 6 and 7 with a net par and an outrageous on 7 when I holed from about 40 feet off the green. But they came back with another net birdie on 8 to get to 1 up. There were then a lot of halves until the 13th where again a Net birdie beat us, and we were then standing on the 15th 2 down with 5 to play. Ryan birdied 15 for a half, then I birdied 16 for a win and we won 17 with a net par. So back to all square and just the last to play. Well to Richard went in the trees on the left with his second but somehow managed to get to within 6 feet for 4 net 3. Chris went in the trees with his second shot but got through and was just at the back of the green for 3 net 2. And I was out of it needing to hole a chip for a 4. So my £50 was left in Ryans hands, but he was in the bunker for 2 and it had been wet so he had a lie just outside a puddle and would have to stand in the water to play a bunker shot out of wet sand. I reminded him that it was my £50.00 and I think the reply was something like "glad its not mine". But of course he came through and put it to about 6 feet, and after Richard holed his par net 4 putt for an outrageous net birdie from the trees Ryan holed his to save my £50.00 and a halved match.

Was a great match and we both scored net 67's off 3/4 handicap. So my last 2 fourball better ball matches I had played 2 x 18 hole and they were all square. Just shows the handicap system does work.
