A Medal, I found it, but it just wasn't good enough

So today we had a Medal and I was looking forward to playing first with Paul McHale and Jon Elliott, playing with 3 and 4 Handicap players was always going to be fun for me with my new 7 handicap. There was a threat of thunder showers but these held off so we had a good day.
So my swing had returned for most of the round and I managed to start with 3 Pars but a slice on the 4th and then hitting a tree and a double bogey was the final result. I played OK for the rest of the round but I ended up with a final score of 81, 9 over, and this was not enough to avoid my 0.1 so I am up to 7.5 and back to 8.
Paul however played great golf, but this was not the old Paul McHale who used to score well, sometimes, and also score very erratically. He was just very steady and managed to hit 15 GIR and with 15 Pars, 1 Bogey and 2 Birdies had a very good 71, 5 under his Handicap. It was great to see all the strong scores today and there are a number of people who will be playing off lower Handicaps tomorrow. Congratulations to all the winners
I do also have to add that it turned out I was the longest driver in our group today.  This came about as Jon had out driven Paul by about 6 Inches on the 10th, then on the 12th I did Jon by about 6 inches. So that makes me the longest.
Next Saturday we have our first match in the PAV trophy, and this will be at Selsey. If anyone is interested in coming to down to watch or maybe caddy for some of the players it would be great to see you. I am lucky enough to have been selected for this and I look forward to it, and we should be finished in time for the England match in the evening too:-)
