Another long week over and back to golf

Well it has been a long week, but the good news is England made it through to the next round. And now it is like the 1940's. "France are back home, the USA coming in late and England face the old enemy Germany.
And I hope not many of you as bad a head on Thursday morning as I managed to wake up with.
Back to golf and don't forget to enter the Club Championships (Ladies, Mens and Seniors) and also Captains day coming soon.
Today the men were away at Hill Barn. and I always find it strange to play at a course where there is no real obstacles and no rough so you can just hit it where you like, I think it is better to have a course set up a little tighter so you have to think your way around, although I understand this does course concern for some
Today I was playing with John Jordan and we had a great match. On the 2nd as i was just about to make my 4 foot par putt the Red Arrows flew over very low. Of course after watching them i then missed the Putt and we lost the hole. And that was the story of our round where we missed far too many putts and they holed them. I still shot 8 over but we lost 5&4. The story of the overall match seemed to be lots of players hitting under there handicap on the day. I think every team that lost complained about someone shooting way under their Handicap on the opposition. In the end we pushed them very hard on their own course and narrowly lost 3.5 to 2.5. Lets see how well they play at our place in September.
One interesting story was that John lost a ball on the 2nd. When we came in the opposition told us it was OK as Les Zselyi had found it, however it turned out Les decided to use Johns ball on the 7th and then lost it again on the 8th. So 2 people lost the same ball in the same comp.
Tomorrow it is golf an football. Bring it on. It was really 20 years ago on the 4th July when we lost in the semi's on penalties in Turin this time it must be ours.
