I am now a substitute teacher

Yesterday I was asked to be a teacher for a day (maybe I will have to improve my spelling) as the Weald had their annual Teachers v Students golf competition. (or as it was titled masters and mistresses against the Boys). As the teachers were one short Dave Sainsbury asked if as Club Captain I could help out, and I was honoured to do this. It was good to see that a number of the staff and students were members of Slinfold including Karen Ashcroft and Anne Ditchfield.
I was paired with Ian who is a Music Teacher who teaches woodwind at a few different schools. Of course we should never judge just on job titles was in the Royal Marines Band for 22 years and some great stories to tell. And also a very good golfer playing off 9. And were paired to play against Slinfolds very own Will Currie and Lewis Sparrow. The format was Greensomes so we had to give them one shot, and without wanting to embarass the boys too much I will just say we were 4 up after 9 and ended up winning on the 14th 6&4. we did play well as a pair with 10 pars in those 14 holes. It was a very close match and with 6 of the groups in the score was 3-3 and it was all down to the last match. And of course to add to the drama it was the Head Master in the last group. As they came in we could see they were still taking it seriously as they both duffed there second shots in. In the end the hole was halved as was the game and therefore the match.
It was good to see some of the fun banter between students and teachers as the results of the matches were announced and I am sure there was some more fun at school today.
