Matchplay Is Tough Sometimes

Today we played the second round of the Slinfold Plate Fourball BetterBall and it was Rob Croxford and myself playing John Reeves and Tim Plumtree. Today I had to give the shots and it was 4 to Tim, 6 to John and 8 to Rob. There was always going to some banter in this match and it did not disappoint.

I have been trying to avoid hole by hole golf games but this match is a bit of an exception. So:

It started well with a half on the first.
On the second rob had made his 3 so I had a chip off the green for a 2, which I holed and we were 1 up.
Third we won with a Net par from Rob 2 up
Fourth John Net birdie and then I got another birdie on 5 to keep us 2 up.
The sixth Tim got a net birdie to win and our first half on 7 so we were 1up.
On the 8th I managed another birdie for a win and then John won the 9th with a par.
So after all that work we were 1 up after the front 9 and I had shot a gross 36.HARD GAME

The Back 9 was not much different.
John won the 10th with Net Birdie, and Tim the 11th with Par so we were 1 down, then won the 12th. so All Square.
We managed to half 13 and 14 and then we won 15 when I birdied only to lose 16 so back to All Square.
The last shots of the match came on 17 and John made another Net Birdie to win it, so typically after all the hard work we were finally down in the match for the first time on the last Tee.
I guessed a birdie was what we needed and I managed to hit the green in 2 with Driver and 5 wood over the trees. I made my 2 putt for my fifth birdie of the round and my best ever round around Slinfold of 74. And all for a half. VERY HARD GAME.

So off to the 1st for the 19th hole and sudden death play off. Rob made a 5 and that was good enough for us to win the hole and take the match.

Well played John and Tim just unlucky that we all played well on the same day.
