For those of you who don't know Ryan played 6 rounds of golf in 13 Hours 15 Minutes at Pyecombe on Friday 2nd July. This mad challenge was set up to raise money for the Sussex Juniors. So when on Sunday morning he turned up struggling to walk as he "hurt all over" I thought I would have to have my "A" game if we were to beat Mike Lowery and Don Peacock in this Captain-Pro challenge. Ryan even had a buggy as he could not walk al 18 holes.
So off we go down the first and both Ryan and I made a 5 but Don made a 5 net 4 and we were 1 down. We halved the second but by the third Ryan had started to warm up. He managed birdies at 3,4 and 9 and by the end of the first 9 holes we were 3 up. We lost the 10th and halved the 11th and then we made 4 birdies in row with Ryan Birdies on 12, 14 and 15 and I made one of 13. That was enough to win at the 15th 4&3 and at this point Ryan was 6 under par. I think he only missed one green in regulation and that was the 11th where he was at least a foot off the green. A great performance and not really possible to beat, Don and Mike played very well getting the best "better ball" score of anyone who has played us this year. I also felt I was not in the game but afterward I checked and was only 2 over my handicap. And another £70.00 to charity.
Still got to fill the date on August 7th if anyone is brave enough.
