So this weekend the rain came in again, and I was very pleased to see that on Sunday they took the decision to close the course. We all want to play but I think it is much more important for the course to be saved for the better weather when we can all enjoy ourselves on a course that has been kept in good condition. Unfortunately it seems not everyone feels the same and it seems that whenever the club make the brave decision to close the course some people decide to phone up and complain, I would also guess these are the same people that moan about the condition of the course when it does not recover. I think the benefit of course closure was best seen when we had the snow and it was closed for a long period, when they opened it again it was in fantastic condition with no trolley marks or footprints in all the walk off areas. The long range forecast is better for next weekend, Captains Drive-In, so from a selfish point of view I would be happy if it was kept closed until then. There are still a few places left as some people have pulled out so if you know anyone who wants to play get them to put their name down.
On another note Richard Kindon was in Devon this week and saw the attached photo on a bin that was collecting clothes for the same charity we are collecting for this year. I of course would not normally comment on my Vice Captains dress sense but I am not sure they would have made that much money from the Jumper he was wearing on Saturday.I am sure he may say I could have a few pairs of shoes that could go in there too.
Oh yes and lastly I did survive the Spin Class, and even managed 18 Holes of golf on Saturday followed by another Gym session. Also Kier is planning to run a seminar on biomechanics for golf on 10th March, I would say it is worth considering this as a supplement to any golf lessons.

Even if it did take to the back nine for the effects of all the fitness to wear off!! But a great days golf!

Excuse me but my Mum gave me my Pringle jumper for Christmas and I can assure you that it's not quite ready for the charity yet. However, if anyone would like to make a serious offer then I won't tell my Mum.
ReplyDeleteThanks Clive. Don't worry about closing the course on Sunday. It was the only decision that could possibly have been made. Did you see the size of the puddles? The whole course was an oasis of casual water! Golf was impossible.
