On Wednesday I attended a seminar held by Ryan, called Deep Effective Practice. This lasted one and half hours and discussed all the fundamentals required to improve your game. I won't give any of Ryans secrets away but it is was great evening and I have taken a lot away from it, particularly how I practice on the Range. It was very interesting to hear Paul McHale quoting Bob Rotella, something I thought I would never hear. It is clear that to get better we all need to spend effective time, and of course Money. But it is also clear that fitness helps and with the Gym we can all spend a little time getting fitter, as this costs nothing with the golf membership.
Sunday was Competition day and we ended up with 61 players. This is a great as last year in the same comp there were only 31. It just shows how Slinfold is thriving as a golf club and it is fantastic to see all the new members entering and enjoying the Comps. I played with Richard Clegg and Mick Clark, and I played well until the 14th. I played the first 13 holes 2 over gross and that was after 3 putting both 2 and 7. When I got to 14 I started to think about how well I was scoring and went on to double bogey 14 and 16, I then lost a ball on 18 and ended up with 7 there too. So 2 over for first 13 and 6 over for last 5. I think I need to work on the mental side of the game and stop thinking score while I am playing, but I did make second in Div 1 with 37 points so not too bad.
Well back to work tomorrow and then Liason Meeting Monday Evening. Next weekend we play the Mail On Sunday competition against Gatton Manor and the Mens team is Paul McHale, Nick Baker, Rob England, Brian Johnston and Myself. Lets hope we can beat our local rivals and move on the next round.
