New Members Day - Then some "Dad Dancing"

So I started this weekend on Friday night with the last of my 5 sessions with Kier in the Gym. It was then that I realised how my life was changing. So here I was 8:30 on a Friday evening, and I am working out in the gym, I seem to remember the days that by that time on a Friday night I would have had at least a few beers and be putting the world to rights. I would have to something about that and soon........
My training with Kier has been great and I have felt my body change. I can now move my shoulder blades and have a lot more strength in the core. It seems to be helping my golf but only time will tell if the handicap starts to fall. I hope to continue all the work and now have a big pack of exercises to do, how am I going to fit those evenings of drinking etc. in?
On Saturday we had our New Members event organised by Andy. As this did not start until 1:00 I decided it would be a good idea to go in the gym for an hour and half, then hit some balls. (I must be going mad). It was good to see we had 17 players joining us for the event and we teamed up into 2 x fourballs and 3 x threeballs playing best 2 stableford scores to count. The guys I played with are still learning the game and it gave me the opportunity to explain a few of stranger rules of golf and I hope I did not bore them too much. One of the things I have learnt from playing with the pro's is that spotting where you hit the ball is something that us amateurs are very poor at, when we hit a poor shot we often look away. So now whenever a ball goes off line I tend to say to people, watch it down and mark a point. I was very pleased to see that my playing partners had picked this up, until we came to the 12th. One of balls was hit towards the trees on the right, and as it landed we were told it's OK, I have a line, it is by the "Green Tree". We decided in the future more information would be required to spot the ball. We made a good 76 Points off 3/4 handicap but Rob England and his team came in with a massive 98 pts, with Rob Shooting 74 (off yellows). Great score. And just a short mention to Andy. I was very disappointed to look down over the balcony and see he was just off the green, about 2 feet into the semi rough, and he was going to Putt out using his broom handle putter. I turned to Rob and said " I cant believe he is going to try to putt that from there, whats wrong with his chipping" Of course Andy went on to put the ball in the hole for an eagle and make me eat my words.
So in the evening The Bones were at Slinfold for "One Night Only". I had decided that I would stay at Random Hall so I could have a few beers and not worry about driving. Maybe now was the time to make up for all those wasted Friday nights in the Gym this is soon enough. It was a great evening and the band, who include non other than our own Don Peacock, were fantastic. However my memories of the evening tend to fade a little after about the 5th pint. I should know better at my age that drinking without eating all day is going to be messy but I seemed to forget that and of course I apologise to all who had to put up with me that evening. For my penance I will agree to share with you the video and photo sent to me by Paul Humphrey. The Photo is of me harassing the bar staff (sorry) and the video of me dad dancing Click Here. A great evening but I wonder how I will be in the morning for the pairs Selig Bowl.........
