So Thursday I had my 6 week review of my program in the Gym with Jo. Always nice to see I have lost a little more weight, now I have lost 11KG since October last year. So the obvious question is how do we get rid of the last few Kilos and of course we got onto the discussion of diet.
Apparently drinking beer and eating curry is not the best for weight loss, but I think I know that, however my job means I do have to take customers out and it often ends up in a restaurant with a few drinks. Also that is what I enjoy. Interestingly since I have been doing the work in the Gym my hangovers have got much better so I may have an extra beer or 2 because I know it will not hurt as much the next day. Also my other bad habit is whenever I am out I tend to stop for a coffee at Costa or similar and who can resist their cakes. But of course all I need to do is stop some of this and I was given an interesting thought, eat well for 80% of the time and then you can eat worse for the 20%, so maybe I will try to work towards that.
What I also found interesting was when we discussed when you should eat. I never plan when I am going to eat around what I do, but as Jo pointed out if I spend up to 2 hours in the gym what fuel has my body got to keep me going, and I could be wasting all the work. So now I will try to eat something an hour before I go the the Gym and while in the Gym if I do over an hour. Also I will try to eat something as soon as I finish, and I am told that is "as soon" within 5 minutes, and that just needs to be some nuts and fruit or some other simple protein. And then try to eat a meal 1 hour after the workout. I also have some other simple changes to try. Lets see what happens.
So today I have my Scratch matchplay against Josh so I will not be able to try out my new handicap of 7 until Sunday when Harry and I take on Jeff and Brian in the second Captain-Pro Challenge. Oh maybe I did not mention that before (unless you have had the pleasure of seeing me over the last couple of days), yes on Wednesday I managed to shoot a 77 and that got me cut down to 7.4. Of course that was may aim at the beginning of the year, but just 0.1 will put me back to 8, so until I am secure in that 7 Handicap I will not consider I have reached my aim.
