OK so for my sins (or is that your sins) I am Club Captain for the year. But I am really looking forward to it and I hope to be able to play golf with as many of you as possible this year and have some fun and laughs along the way.
First I must thank Terry, he has done a great job in 2009 and I will have to live up that for 2010. As I still have to work it may be difficult for me to do all that Terry has managed this year but I will do my best. Also I would like to wish Mellisa (Ladies Captain), Phil (Seniors Captain) and James (Juniors Captain) the best of luck for 2010. For those who don't know us mug shots will be available shortly in the club and on the website, however I am told if you just listen carefully you will hear me at some time, even if you can't see me.
So I remember Terry set out his aims for the year. OK this may be my first and last similarity to Terry's blog (although I may steal a few more ideas yet) but here goes, my list is below.
1. Continue to communicate with all members to the best of my ability and try to get as much feedback from everyone for when we have our regular meetings with the Andy and the team at Slinfold. I intend to make this Blog my main point of communication to everyone along with the Intelligent Golf Web Site, so please let everyone you think should know it get access to this. And please register and log in as a follower as it would be nice to know that it is working and people are reading it. I want to be available for you all to speak to me about anything and all my details are available on Intelligent Golf under Information/2010 Captains Page.
2. Make this year a fun year for all at Slinfold. I hope all the old members will stay and continue to be a large part of what makes Slinfold such a great place to be (and that is the people). Also I want to make sure all new members are welcomed into the "Fold" and we can get everyone joining in our competitions and fun days and enjoying golf.
3. Reduce my Handicap. Well everyone says it will be interesting to see what happens this year, will it go up or down, well I have an aim of "7" for the end of the season, I am sure you will all remind me if goes the other way.
4. I hope to raise a lot of money for this years charity which is Dreams Come True www.dctc.org.uk . If you have a look at this web site I hope you will agree it is a fantastic charity and I hope we can make a lot of seriously ill children's dreams come true this year.
So Happy New Year and I will see you all soon.
