Jedward have revived the old classic and it looks like at Slinfold this weekend it has returned too. I did not get to play golf on Saturday but did make it to my first ever quiz night. I was glad the background round was on the bridges in London, that was something I did know a little about having traveled across many of them in my time working up there. But I am not sure how much use I was for the rest of the quiz however my team did manage to get 7th place, out of 15 that puts us in the top half.
On Sunday I played in the Members Fun Competition that was organized by Andy. This proved to be a great day, with 9 teams entered, even if it was a little difficult to judge landing balls on the frozen greens. I was out first with Chris Miles, John Stevenson and Les Zselyi. We had a great day and we ended up with 74 Points (best 2 of 4 3/4 Handicap), we just missed second place as another 74 put us in third place on countback, but we were pleased to see that John and Chris won the 2 nearest the pin prizes, and as we were out first they were the only ones on the sheet.
OK back to the handicap system, I am in the process of registering Slinfold into the new EGU Centralised Database of Handicaps (CDH) http://www.englishgolfunion.org/showpage.asp?code=0001000200090018 This will allow easy entry to open competitions and easier managing of away handicaps. It will also mean any inactive handicap can now not be used for entering external competitions. I hope its an easy process and when I learn more will put some more information both here and on Intelligent Golf.
