A better day in Portugal
So watching the news looks like more snow in the UK. I just booked the tee times for the next competition on 23rd January, lets hope the snow has cleared by then.
Over here we had a better day, only a few showers but still a little windy and we played the Victoria for our second round. The good news is I survived JJ's Chili, was very nice, and it did me some good as my driving was a lot better today, I even managed to out drive Allan on three holes so it must add some strength, I will be offering John's Chili under license for anyone who want to add distance at £10.00 a bowl. The course was very wet and playing all of its 6600 yards today, but we played well and as team scored 13 under which makes us 2 shots off the lead in third place. We played off the 10th today and these are some great holes with lots of lakes and streams running through them. The hole in the picture is the 14th and it is a hole with 2 fairways, left for the shorter hitters and right for the longer hitters. Matt and Allan both go right while John and I go left, but today John and I both hit fours with a shot (SI 6) so hat gave us 2 net birdies. The shot of the day was from Allan on the par 5 seventeenth, this is a long par 5 with water all down the right, I had walked up to the green when Allan hit his third shot that pitched a foot past the flag and came back to hit the pin. It didn't go in but was a great shot to watch from up by the green. We hit the pin four times between us today and none of them went in so we could have been better off if they had just dropped. Matt had a couple of bad holes today but he had a good fight back and managed to finish with a round of 76.
Tomorrow is a day off but we are going to play the Old Course for a practice round before the 2 rounds of the Pro Am on Friday and Saturday. Tonight it is the 30th anniversary of the SPGU coming out to Portugal so we have dinner and a few drinks and a comedian. I am sure it will be fun and maybe we will be a little late for our tee time in the morning.
